Maria Guidace Insalaco-Grant, 75, of Deerfield Beach, FL, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut at New Britain General. Born in San Giovanni, Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Caterina Galluzo Guidace. She was a former Newington and Farmington resident before moving to Florida in 1989. Maria was a graduate of the Teachers College of CT now CCSU and taught Adult Education including English as a second language for many years. She was also employed at the law office of Dworski, Shurberg and Marinelli before retiring. She was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Deerfield Beach. Surviving are three daughters, Linda Fongemie and her husband Mark of Kensington, Dori Insalaco of Mystic, and Mary Insalaco of Plainville; four grandchildren, Paul A. Mangiafico, Leah Paone and her husband Adib, Haley Fongemie, and Sienna Conti; a great-grandson, Evan Paone; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Vincent and Helen Guidace of Virginia and Frances and Nam Guidace of Nevada; her companion, Alfred Nappi; three nieces, Cateria Guidace, Kristine Guidace, and Donna Pitts; and a nephew, Alexander Guidace. She was predeceased by a sister, Laura McElroy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church in Kensington. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General, Emergency Department Services or the Wolfson Pallative Care Program at the hospital.
