Maria Luisa Centeno

Maria Luisa Miranda Centeno, 79, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, January 26, 2012. She was the widow of Don Andres Centeno. Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Juan and Elvira (Rivera) Miranda. Maria has been a longtime New Britain resident, coming from Puerto Rico over 43 years ago. She was a member of St. Mary Church where she belonged to the Ladies of Sacred Heart and was also a member of St. Jerome Church. Maria will be remembered as a woman of great faith and love. She was compassionate, caring and a true example of a beautiful human being. She made this world a better place and will be missed by all who had the good fortune and honor of knowing her. Surviving are her six sons and daughters-in-law; Orlando and Carmen Centeno, Humberto and Maria Centeno, Rolando Centeno and Ruth Vazquez-Centeno, Ramon and Nereida Centeno, Andres and Helen Centeno, Fernando and Mirta Centeno, her two daughters and sons-in-law; Nancy Centeno and Enrique Ormaechea, Maria M. Centeno Pires and William Pires, thirteen grandchildren; Pedro, David, Inaki, Luis, Lizaida, Elvira, Rosaura, Selena, Julian, Reymon, Nelinda, Roberto, Fernando, Daniel, and Grant, four great grandchildren; Alejandro, Isadora, Xavier, and Vivian, four brothers; Ramon, Rafael, Manolo and Orlando, three sisters; Manola, Carmen and Alicia, and several nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her grandson Doug Beal. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
