Mari Bekelian

Mari Bekelian, 88, of Plainville, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Sheridan Woods in Bristol.

Born in Damascus, Syria, she was the daughter of Peter and Siranoush Bekelian.  Mari was a former New Britian resident before moving to Plainville 23 years ago.  She was a member of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in New Britain.  Mari enjoyed cooking and baking, and loved to use her skills to feed her family.

Surviving are her son, Georgiy Melkonyan and his wife Roza Sogomonyan; her sister, Kenarig Zamgochian; two grandchildren, Hogob Melkonyan and Andranik Melkonyan; five nephews and two nieces.

Funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain.  Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Southington.  Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
