Margaret Baronian Bagdigian, 95, of Farmington was called home to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Peter Bagdigian Sr. who died in 1994. Born in Kharpet, Turkey, she was orphaned at the age of five years old. As a result of the Turkish Massacre, Margaret fled Kharpet with her paternal grandmother Almas Baronian to Aleppo, Syria and later come to the United States thru Ellis Island in 1920. She was a former New Britain resident and was a Farmington resident for the past 75 years. After her marriage, she assisted her family in operating Lakeside Dairy Farm and Lakeside Ice Cream and Snack Bar. Margaret was a devoted daughter of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection and received the Parishioner of the Year Award in 1994. She was a past chairman and a long time member of the Women's Guild at church. She was a long time member of the Senior Group at church and was a former Sunday School teacher. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she is survived by two children, Peter Bagdigian Jr. and Patricia Buttero; her grandchildren, Deborah Buttero-Nieves Angel, Catherine Shepherd Russ, David Buttero, Shannon Bagdigian, Tammy Bagdigian and her fiancé Robert Sampson, Kimberly-Jo Bagdigian and her fiancé Jeremy McLaurin; her great-grandchildren, Larry Oxendine and his fiancé Katie Crossman, and Amanda Shepherd; her great-great-grandchildren, Deacon and Leland; two sisters-in-law, Alice Bagdigian and Lillian Azarigian; a brother-in-law, Harry Azarigian; her God Daughter, Armen Michalak; two 1st cousins, Elizabeth Manoogian and John Baronian; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by her son-in-law, Rev. Fr. Michael Buttero, and her 1st cousin, Arthur "Ozzie" Manoogian. She will be greatly missed by all who love her. Margaret's family would like to thank the doctors and staff at UCONN Health Center I.C.U. for their loving care and support. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:30 PM at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. At Margaret's request, calling hours will be omitted.
