Marco A. Villa

Marco Antonio Villa, 42, of New Britain, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.

Born in New Britain, he was a lifelong New Britain resident and was formerly employed at the Boys Club in New Britain and as an Attendance Officer for the New Britain Board of Education.  Marco also served as a former Police Commissioner for the City of New Britain.

Marco devoted his life to coaching basketball at the Boys Club in New Britain, New Britain High School, and with various travel basketball teams.  Marco was loved and respected by his players, who he treated as if they were his own kids.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his mother, Maria Velasquez of New Britain; three children, Denise, Jadelys, and Gabriel; his granddaughter, A’miah; his sisters and brother, Miriam Reyes, Marisol Wilk, Maribel Velasquez, Blanca Villa, and Benjamin Villa Jr.; many nieces and nephews including Josivan Rodriguez and David Lee Rosario; and his much loved grandnephews, Zachary and Baby Joe.  Marco was predeceased by his father, Benjamin Villa.

Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8 PM at St. Mary Church in New Britain.   Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary Church.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain.  Memorial donations may be made to the family, c/o Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
