Marcelyn G. King, 78, of Plainville, died unexpectedly Sunday, August 16, 2009 at the UCONN Health Center in Farmington. She was the widow of Ralph E. "Ron" King who died June 10, 1993. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth Olson Poppel. She was a long time Berlin resident before moving to Plainville 10 years ago. Marcelyn was formerly employed with the State of Connecticut and also spent many years as a substitute school teacher in Berlin. She was a member of the Plainville Congregational Church, and was a volunteer at the Church Thrift Shop. She was also active with the Bucks and Does Square Dance and was a former member of Martha Chapter #21, O.E.S. Surviving are her son, Ron King and his wife Sharon of Berlin; two daughters, Gloria King of Plainville and Judy Hungerford and her husband David also of Plainville; three grandchildren, Will, Emily and R.J. Hungerford; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Adult I.C.U. and the Cardiology Department at UCONN Health Center and the Physicians of Grove Hill Cardiology Department for their loving care. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday at 10:00 am at Maple Cemetery in Berlin. Calling hours are Thursday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
