Malcolm Jack Sagherian, 65, of Newington, Connecticut passed away peacefully on October 3, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Smilow Cancer Center at Yale-New Haven after a brave battle with Leukemia.

Malcolm was born in the Bronx, NY to Jack and Margie Sagherian, survivors of the Armenian Genocide. The family later moved to Yonkers, NY where Malcolm graduated from Gorton High School in 1971. He received a BS degree in finance and an MBA from Pace University. While at Pace, he was a star fullback for the football team and was MVP in his senior year.

Malcolm had a long and successful career as a Controller with Olympic Steel. He joined the company in 1992 and was ultimately promoted to Regional Controller with financial responsibility for several Olympic facilities. He was proud of his work and enthusiastically reminded his loved ones to enjoy their careers. Earlier in his career he worked for the Armenian General Benevolent Union, another cause he was proud of.

He was the beloved husband of Susie (nee Maljanian) Sagherian and loving and devoted father of Jacob, Michael and James in whose growth and accomplishments he was so proud. Cherished brother of Sheila Devejian and husband Ed and Jacqueline Basralian and husband Joe; brother-in-law of Debbie and Gary Kerr and John and Rose Maljanian. Adored son-in-law of John and Roxie Maljanian and dear uncle to ten nieces and nephews.

Malcolm derived tremendous joy from time spent with his immediate and large extended family. He also loved traveling, reading, and all sports, especially football and baseball and was an avid Giants and Yankees fan. He will be remembered for his cheerfulness, his pragmatic optimism, his warm smile and his ebullient personality. "This too shall pass," he would say, as he never failed to lift the spirits of everyone around him.
