Lynne Baikal

Lynne (Borra) Baikal, wife of Roland C. Baikal, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at the Hospital of Central CT. Born Sept. 4, 1943 in Torrington, she was the daughter of the late Gildo and Jean (Romersa) Borra. Lynne was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle and received her Masters Degree from the University of Massachusetts. Lynne was a Berlin resident for over 40 years and was employed as a math teacher at Central CT State University and at Berlin High School before retiring. Lynne was a member of St. Paul Church and the New Britain Council of Catholic Women. She was a volunteer at the Hospital of Central CT, at Bushnell Memorial, and participated in several bridge groups. Lynne also served for many years on the Berlin Children's Fund. Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Roland Baikal; her children, Alison B. Boda, O.D. and her husband Commander Kenneth J. Boda (USCG) of Bellevue, WA, and Ryan C. Baikal of Berlin, CT; and a grandson, Patrick J. Boda. Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara Pudlinski and her husband John of Torrington, Donna Casavant and her husband Ronald of Torrington, Keith Borra of Torrington, and Dennis Borra of Hudson, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
