Luz Palmira Garcia

Luz Palmira Garcia, 81, of New Britain, CT, was born on February 12, 1940 in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico.  She was peacefully called to be with the Lord on March 16, 2021.  Luz was predeceased by her loving husband, Ebu Israel Garcia and her son, Elliot I. Garcia, Jr.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joachim Parish, St. Mary Church and worked many years at Critikon.  She loved her Spanish music, traveling, and being surrounded by her family and friends.  She was very social and made friends easily.

Luz leaves behind her children, Hector Garcia and his wife Madeline Garcia Aponte, Lourdes Cruz and her husband Heriberto Cruz, Gilbert Garcia, and her daughter-in-law Sondra Aponte-Garcia; her grandchildren, Doris Garcia, Hector I. Garcia, Jessica Garcia, Heriberto Cruz Jr., Emilio Cruz, Eliano Cruz, Joshua Garcia, Gabrielle Garcia, and Elliot A. Garcia III; great-grandchildren Jeremii Hairston, Maylani Fernandez, and Lennon Leigh Crispo.  She also leaves her sisters, Noelia Pereira, Ines Cordero, and Himilce Avila as well as many other siblings, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Mary Church.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.   A walk-through visitation will be held on Saturday from 5-7 PM and Sunday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.
