Luz Enid Castro, 32, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Thursday at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of Victor M. Castro, Sr. and Angelita (Barbosa) Castro of New Britain. In addition to Chicago, Luz is a former resident of New York, Puerto Rico and has been a resident of New Britain for 27 years. She served in the Army Reserves for many years. Luz was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Luz leaves her daughter Jaydalee Katiana Alvarez, her fiancé Wilfredo Justiniano, both of New Britain, five brothers, Manuel Enrique Castro, currently serving in the Air Force, Christian Alexander Castro of New Britain, Luis Alberto Castro of Puerto Rico, Victor Manuel Castro, Jr. and Kelvin Castro, both of New Britain, her nephew Enrique David Castro and several cousins. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
