Lucian L. Kraft Jr.

Lucian L. Kraft Jr., 71 of Plainville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016 at Hartford Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Marsha L. (Brown) Kraft.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Lucian Kraft Sr. and Gertrude (Silvernail) Kraft.  Lucian was a resident of Plainville most of his life.  A Plainville High School graduate, Big Lou lettered in Football and Baseball.  He continued playing in numerous slow pitch softball leagues throughout his adult life breaking records in Plainville & New Britain.  He was an avid sports fan, especially his beloved Red Sox.  He worked as a mechanic specializing in diesel engines, owning his own business for a short time.  He also was a long time member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer L. Kraft of Plainville; two sons, Gary L. Kraft and his companion, Sherry Lee Marisina, Jason L. Kraft and his wife Kelly Foster; a brother, David Kraft and his wife Sharon of Southington; a sister, Alice Gawell and her husband Frank of Plainville, eight grandchildren: Breanna, Christian, Joshua, Gentri, Zachary, Phoenix, TyShawn, and Demari.  He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael Kraft.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a service of remembrance at 7 PM.
