Lois Vivian Carlson Barber, 80, of Hartford, widow of Richard Barber, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Avery Heights in Hartford. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Raymond Carlson and Phoebe Olander Carlson. Lois formerly resided in New Britain, Wilbraham, MA and West Hartford. She was employed by the Hampden County School System, was a secretary at the Universal Electric Co. and also worked at Michaels Jewelers. Surviving are her sister, Arlene Bodurtha of Agawam, MA, her niece Deborah Steenhoff of Agawam, MA, and her cousins Dorothy MacPherson of Plainville and Sis Olander of Middlefield. A procession will leave on Friday at 10:00 AM from Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain for a graveside service at 10:30 AM at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 78 Franklin Sq., New Britain, CT 06051 or to Bethany Covenant Church, 785 Mill St., Berlin, CT 06037.
