Lionel "Leo" Robert Mailhot, 76, of Newington, died peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Edna Barry Mailhot. Born in Danielson, CT, he was the son of the late Henry and Marie Bergeron Mailhot. He was raised in Quebec, Canada and was a former New Britain resident before moving to Newington 55 years ago. Lionel was a developer and the former owner of Leo's Construction Co. having developed Holy Hill Farms in Hebron as well as developments in Simsbury and Canton. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington and the Moose Lodge in Hebron. In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by two sons, Robert Mailhot of Missouri and his children Jessica, Tiffany and Robert; and Ronald Mailhot of Washington and his children Cory Edmund and Ashley; two daughters, Rebecca Rice of Newington, her husband Dan and children Robert and Alyssa; and Rhonda Mailhot of New Britain and children Sonya and Jordan Alexa. He is also survived by a sister, Ollette Hanaffran of Naples, FL; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Chyse; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Benoit and Leopold. Calling hours will be held Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St, New Britain with a service conducted at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
