Lilly Astrid Lundgren, 84, died on Tuesday March 11, 2008 at the Covenant Village of Cromwell in Cromwell CT. Born and raised in Fairfield Connecticut, Lilly showed an early interest in teaching and graduated from Bridgeport High School. After marrying, she lived in Livingston NJ for 45 years before moving to Cromwell in 1999. Lilly worked as a bookkeeper with various companies in the Livingston area, she retired from Intege Industries in 1987. She loved her family - her husband, the late Roy Lundgren Sr.; her daughter Lynn Lundgren of Chicago, and her son Roy Lundgren Jr. of Scotch Plains NJ. Lilly had two grand children whom she adored, Michael Roy Ruegg and Rebecca Lundgren; and she loved her cats Lilly was a kind, loving person, remarkable for her energy and vivacity. She brought a smile to the face of all that were lucky to know her. Her church was a focus of her life. A long time member of Trinity Covenant Church of Livingston, Lilly sang in the choir for forty years and was active in the church's women's organizations. Singing was a love of hers. Besides singing trios with her sisters and various friends, she also sang with the Sweet Adelines for a time. In addition to her children, Lilly is survived by her son-in-law, George Michael Ruegg and daughter-in-law, Claude Lundgren; and by her brothers, Ivar Johnson of Fairfield, Connecticut and Wilbert Johnson of Boyton Beach, Florida. She will also be missed by her many friends at Covenant Village. She was the daughter of the late Theorin and Emma Johnson who were Swedish immigrants. Lilly was predeceased by her sisters Edith Smakal and Gunhild Nagy. Arrangements are being made through the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home in New Britain, CT. A memorial service will be held on March 29 at 11:00 AM at the Hilltop Covenant Church in Cromwell, CT. Donations can be made in her name to the Benevolent Fund at the Covenant Village of Cromwell, 52 Missionary Road, Cromwell, CT.
