Leslie Anthony Correa, 52, of New Britain, beloved husband of Jenny Valentin Correa, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 22, 2004. Born and raised in New York City until the age of 24, he was a New Britain resident for the past 28 years. He was a graduate of CCNY and received his Masters of Science Degree in special physical education from the University of Connecticut in 1976. He was formerly employed at the Hartford Public School System retiring as an Assistant Principal after 29 years of service. An avid sports enthusiast, he was formerly an active coach with the Walicki Little League Baseball and served as the former Head Football Coach at Hartford Public High School. He was former member of the Camp Courant Board of Directors for 10 years, with a deep commitment to serving inner city youth. He was a beloved husband, father, mentor, and was involved in many community activities. In addition to his beloved wife, Jenny, he is survived by his loving children, Alberto Miguel Correa, Nicolas Julian Correa, and Taimyra Correa, all of New Britain; his parents, Fermin and Asuncion Pizarro Correa of New Britain; a brother, Fermin Correa Jr. of CA; two sisters, Jeanette Correa of CA and Lynette Correa of New Britain; his father-in-law, Miguel Valentin of New Britain; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mickey and Delia Valentin of New Britain. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, close friends, and colleagues. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert Correa. Affectionately known as "Big Les" he will be dearly missed by all who have known him. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 Am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 Am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday today from 5-9 PM at the funeral home.
