Leonard Freschner, 82 of Berlin, died peacefully at home on December 14, 2008. Departing through life's final door Eternal solace we find in store All purposes gained and values found Tolerance left behind, will still abound Heaven bids "Welcome forevermore" Author….Len Freschner My spirit entered this material world on April 9, 1926, in New Britain, Conn. Through the loving bond of Fred & Albertine Kutz Freschner. Joined next by brother Wilfred then by sister Winifred Warren I met and wed my love of 42 years, Charlotte Monkiewicz. In 1956 we had a son Peter. They have all preceded me and await my arrival to be with them on this date December 14, 2008. I leave behind in Vacaville, CA, my beautiful granddaughter Elizabeth Swanson and my 2 great granddaughters. I also leave behind my daughter-in-law Janice Schlick. There are also many nieces and nephews throughout the country, May God Bless them all! As a graduate from New Britain Senior High School, class of 1944, I was also a member of the Reunion Committee and a Navy Veteran. Throughout my life I spent time working as a carpenter, Service Rep. and a Glazing Supervisor for several major glass companies. I enjoyed flying my own airplane and introducing many people and children to their first airplane ride. I took pleasure in cooking and baking for family and social gatherings. I also enjoyed writing poetry, and doing artwork, mostly portraiture in all forms and media. I was a member of the Community Art League of Berlin, Southington Arts & Crafts, Orange Arts & Crafts and New Britain Museum of American Art. My works have been shown in all these places and many more across the United States. I want to thank Theresa who took wonderful care of me my last few weeks. Thank you to the Hospice of Central Connecticut, and Berlin VNA. And especially thank you to Charlotte and Cheryl who made it possible for me to stay home. All my love to you all. A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2009 at 10:30 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
