Leon Hovanesian

Leon Hovanesian, 77, of New Britain, husband of Rita D. Hovanesian, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was the son of the late Harry and Takouhi Sakoian Hovanesian. Leon was a New Britain resident since 1944 and was formerly employed as a custodian in the New Britain Public School System. He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. In addition to his wife Rita, he is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Emil Mosey of New Britain; one nephew; several nieces; and several grandnieces. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., and at 11:00 AM at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday evening from 6-8 PM with a prayer service to be conducted by Rev. Fr. Kapriel at 7:00 PM.
