Leo J. Civitillo

Larger than life and loved by so many, Leo J. Civitillo, 43, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Born in 1974, the son of Mario and Arcangela Civitillo, he was most recently Global Head of Fixed Income Capital Markets at Morgan Stanley, where he had worked since joining in 2004. While at Morgan Stanley, Leo also worked as Global Co-Head of Debt Derivatives and served in other senior level roles. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Leo also worked at JPMorgan Chase.

Leo was fiercely loyal and demonstrated great pride and enthusiasm for his alma maters.  Leo graduated from Berlin High School in 1993, where he was an academic scholar and a two-sport athlete, excelling in baseball and soccer. Leo graduated cum laude from Fairfield University in 1997, where he played baseball and was a star catcher and long-time supporter of Friends of Fairfield Baseball, a mentor program designed to help players find jobs post graduation.

A lover of the sun, warm weather, and leisure time with friends and family, Leo enjoyed summers in Charlestown, Rhode Island relaxing with his girls, lounging on the beach or by the pool, or generously welcoming friends old and new. An avid golfer, Leo could often be found enjoying the early morning hours on the golf course, challenging himself and others to a “friendly” round. Leo was a member of Tamarack Country Club in Greenwich, Connecticut and Shelter Harbor Golf Club in Charlestown, Rhode Island where he and his family painted many beautiful memories.

Leo is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 15 years, Christa (Veleas) Civitillo, and three beautiful daughters, Lauren, Rachel, and Leah; mother and father, Arcangela and Mario Civitillo; sister Danielle Civitillo; aunt and uncle Maria and Phil Cyr; parents-in-law Roberta and Leo Veleas; brother-in-law Peter Veleas and wife Lisa, sons Zachary, Joshua, and Daniel; sister-in-law Leah (Veleas) O’Leary and husband Michael, children Drew, Devon, and Alyssa.  He is also survived by many cousins and an abundance of friends who were like family to him. Leo was predeceased by his grandparents Angiolina and Joseph Vignone.
