Lena A. Kozlowski

Lena A. (Sereno) Kozlowski, 97, of New Britain, CT, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, November 20, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Kozlowski. Lena was born on February 15, 1928, in New Britain, CT, to the late Saverio and Olympia (Germinara) Sereno. After graduating from New Britain High School in 1946, she went on to work at Stanley Works. It was there she met Carl, the love of her life, in 1947. The two were married on September 4, 1948, and shared 69 beautiful years of marriage before Carl’s passing in 2018.

Lena is survived by her two daughters, Carlene Marino of Plainville, CT, and Debra McKinnon and her husband Robert McKinnon II of Kensington, CT. Lovingly known as “Mama” to her special four, she leaves her grandchildren, Heather Marino, Robert McKinnon III and his wife Elizabeth, Kendall McKinnon, and Evan McKinnon and his fiancé Mikayla Giana. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren who knew her as “Memaw,” Eloise McKinnon and Robert McKinnon IV. Also left to mourn her loss are her two brothers, Peter Sereno and his wife Diane, and Sonny Sereno and his wife Barbara, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Lena was predeceased by her sister, Carmella Paci.

Lena was so proud of the family that she and her late husband Carl built. The two spent much of their time watching their grandchildren’s countless activities. A constant and supportive presence, Lena embraced every special moment, family gathering, and holiday that she was able to share with her family as the years went by. She was especially thankful for the precious time she had with her great-grandchildren.

Through the years, Lena made countless friends and enjoyed spending time with her McDonald’s crew, taking trips to the casino, bowling, and being an active member of her community, specifically as a member of the Italian Junior League. She was very sociable and looked forward to her weekly card games with the ladies on Monday and the Stanley Seniors on Thursday. As the last of the original Woodhaven Drive residents, her home was always filled with family, friends, neighbors, love, and a good time. Lena was an amazing woman who made lasting memories and touched the hearts of many. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for others, and will be deeply missed by all.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the home hospice team for their care and support of Lena.
