Lauren "Laurie" Gualano

Lauren (Laurie) Gualano, 71, of New Britain, passed away unexpectedly at home. Laurie was born in New Britain, CT on July 27, 1952 to Dolores and Vincent Gualano.

Laurie leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Ania Legienza.

Laurie graduated from New Britain High School and was a lifelong resident of New Britain. Laurie was a quiet and kind soul. Up until her retirement, she worked as a paraeducator in the Special Education department throughout the New Britain school system where she made many friends and enjoyed working with all of her students. Whether feeding the seagulls at the beach or caring for the neighborhood cats, Laurie was a lover of all animals.

Laurie was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Newington, where she formed many friendships and felt at peace throughout services.

Laurie is survived by her special nieces, Kelly and Leah Gaffney, great nephew, Miles, and Kelly’s fiancé Mark Fusco. She also leaves behind a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Mark Gaffney, and brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Linda Gualano, several adored cousins, and her beloved cats, Mya and Selena.

Our family would like to express deep gratitude to all of Laurie’s friends and neighbors for their many acts of kindness, faith, and friendship. You meant a lot to her.

Join the family for a time of encouragement, hope and remembrance of a beautiful life to be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 296 New Britain Avenue, Newington on March 16, 2024 at 1:00 pm.  Open to all friends and family.  A graveside memorial will be held at a later date.
