Katherine ''Kay'' M. Sitz

Katherine M. "Kay" Sitz, 81, of New Britain, died peacefully on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at New Britain General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife for 59 years of William J. Sitz, Sr. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Macauley Riggs. She attended Plainville High School and was a resident of New Britain most of her life. Kay was formerly employed at Stanley Works and was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the New Britain Senior Center. Kay was an avid Boston Red Sox and N.Y. Giants fan. She enjoyed gardening, loved music and looked forward to her winter vacations in Florida and her times at Hawks Nest Beach in Old Lyme, CT In addition to her husband William, she is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; William J. Sitz Jr. and Cynthia Sitz of Ft. Wayne, IN, Steven F. Sitz and Lisa Fine of Schenectady, NY, Robert D. and Nancy Sitz of Newington; Scott F. and Elizabeth Sitz of Middletown; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Marion Riggs of North Haven; two sisters; Thelma Spencer of Plainville and Wanda Martin of Southington; 13 grandchildren; Tabatha, William III, Charles Thomas, Dawn Walden, and Felicia Martinez, Nikolai, Marika, Macauley, Laura, Andrea, Kristen, Jeff, and Lauren; and 14 nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-4 PM.
