Katherine Michelle Colon

On September 21, 2023 in the early morning hours, Katherine Michelle Colon was struck by a police cruiser and died from her injuries on the scene. We are saddened by this tragedy and heart broken by her loss.

Katherine was born in Philadelphia on June 29, 1983, a beautiful baby girl to Hector Luis Colon and Maribel Candelaria. She spent her early childhood years in Philadelphia and eventually moved to Connecticut where she graduated from New Britain High School in 2001.

As a child, Katherine loved to play Double Dutch and because of her mother, Maribel, she developed a passion for dancing. She loved to make others laugh and was a proud woman for others. She felt at peace around bodies of water. She loved to look her best at all times and had a passion for fashion. She couldn’t wait to introduce you to someone by saying who you were and what you meant to her. In her own special way, she claimed you and made you feel proud to know her. She really loved to show her kids off and she wore motherhood as a badge of honor.

A devoted mother, she leaves behind Maribel Rodriguez, Nathaniel Colon, Daniah Sawyer, and David Sawyer Jr. She is survived by three brothers and five sisters, Hector L. Colon, Javier Moreno, Ismael Lopez, Ann E. Colon, Darlene Colon, Rachel Colon, Enid Colon, and Lydia Colon as well as her brother in law Robert Saldana.  Additionally, she leaves behind uncles, aunts, countless cousins and friends who will greatly miss her.

The family wishes to thank everyone for the countless prayers and support.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.  Calling hours will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
