June Ferrero

June Ferrero, 88, longtime resident of Kensington, died peacefully on Saturday March 26th. June was born on September 28, 1922 to Sebastiano and Constantina Scionti. The youngest of seven, she grew up in Cromwell and later moved to Kensington when she married the late Fred Ferrero in 1942. There, she raised four children, Lonnie, Gail, Francine, and John while supporting and working with her husband in their family business, Kensington Appliance, which became Kensington Furniture. Later in life, she and Fred loved camping and were members of the Coachman Caravan Camping Club. June was a parishioner of St. Paul's Church and a longtime member of the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and the Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary. June is survived by her immediate family, Lonnie Jarmolinski, Gail Ferrero and her husband, Don Meeker, Francine Mckiernan and her husband, Jon Mckiernan, John Ferrero and his wife, Nancy Ferrero; grandchildren Wendy (Jarmolinski) Bellissimo, her husband, Joe; Jacob and Alexandra Mckiernan; Andrew, Brittany and William Ferrero; four great-granddaughters Gracie, Cecilia, Willow and Marlie Bellissimo; and step-grandsons Ben, Andrew and Eric Meeker. June also leaves her brother, Mariano Shonti, beloved nieces and nephews; grandnieces, grandnephews as well as many other loved relatives and friends. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. John Church, 5 Saint Johns Court, (off route 372) Cromwell. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent: for research of children's cancers, to City of Hope, 1055 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90017, Dana Farber Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284; to the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department, 880 Farmington Avenue, Kensington CT 06037 or to a charity of choice.
