June was born in Chicago Illinois, on May 4 1926, to Gustav and Ruth Elizabeth (Carlson) Highfield. Her father was a Swedish immigrant, and her mother was also Swedish. She grew up with her sister, Irene, in a strong Christian home on the north side of Chicago, attending Mary Gage Peterson Elementary School and North Park Academy. Her love of singing began early; she and Irene often sang duets throughout their childhood into early adulthood. After graduating from North Park Junior College, June worked in the admissions office at North Park College and Seminary for ten years, and then for six years as a parish worker and office secretary at First Evangelical Covenant Church in Chicago. On September 29, 1963, June married Marvin Alfred Anderson. The couple settled in Unionville Connecticut, where they had two children, Randall Marvin and Linnea Beth. They were long-time and active members of Trinity Covenant Church in Plainville until it was merged in 2010 with Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin. June was a lifetime choir member at the churches she attended, often singing solos and duets. She was a faithful student of God's Word, both on her own and as a study group leader, and with Marvin, led Good News clubs for neighborhood children who gathered in their home for meetings. She taught Sunday School for many years at Trinity Covenant, and fulfilled a real ministry as a faithful visitor to the elderly, sick, and shut-ins, with an outreach ministry through letter/card correspondence with others, offering thanks and encouragement. The Andersons supported missionaries and missions throughout their lifetimes, and lobbied for and supported political issues of concern. They had a campsite at Pilgrim Pines in West Swanzey, New Hampshire, where they were also active members of the community. Besides church activities, June enjoyed oil painting, playing the piano, calligraphy, and traveling with Marvin. In August of 2001, the Andersons moved to a patio home at Covenant Village of Cromwell, where they continued to pursue their interests, singing in the choir and hosting hymn sings, and taking part in many other campus activities. Predeceased by her husband, Marvin, and her sister, Irene, June is survived by her children: Randall, and his wife, Lisa; and Linnea and her husband, David Pearson; five grandchildren; her sisters and brothers-in-law: John and Jan Levander, Jim and Janet Silver; and seven nieces and nephews and their families. Friends may call on the family on Sunday, May 6th, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Erickson Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain. A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Covenant Village at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 7th; The Reverend Dr. Henry Millan and Rev. Mary Miller will officiate. A reception in the Pineview Recreation Center will follow the service. Interment will be in Forestville Cemetery, Bristol, Connecticut with Rev. James Silver officiating.
