Julian Lampkin

Julian Lampkin, 100, of New Britain passed away on Monday, May 30 at home, peacefully with family by his side.  Born in Appling, GA, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Lampkin.  Mr. Lampkin has lived in New Britain since 1945 when he was honorably discharged from the Army.  He served honorably in the military of the U.S. of America and received a certificate of award as a testimonial of honest and faithful service to this country.  Mr. Lampkin was a WWII veteran and served as a MP (Military Police).  He was discharged December 1945.  Mr. Lampkin was formerly employed at Stanley Works, before retiring.  He also had his own moving business to help supplement his income.  Mr. Lampkin was a faithful member of Grace Community Church, formerly known as McCullough Temple CME in New Britain, CT. Special thanks to the Hartford Healthcare Hospice Nurses and to Dr. Camilo Echanique at the Newington VA.

Julian was predeceased by one son, former musician Tyrone Lampkin.  He is survived by his faithful and dedicated wife Nannie (Ellison) Lampkin; two daughters, Peggy Lampkin, MD of Silver Spring, MD and Christine Burns of New Britain, CT; six grandchildren, Marc Lampkin, Eric Burns, Jason Burns, Shawn Lawrence and his wife Raychel, Kyle Gil and Tanya Gil; nine great grandchildren, Tyree Burns, Melanie Burns, Avia Burns, Parisa Burns, Charlie Lugo, Greyson Lawrence, Octavius Lawrence, Tonia Jones and Jose Colon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A going home celebration will take place on Friday at 12 noon at Wellspring Church, 222 Lincoln St., Kensington, CT.  Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.  Calling hours are Thursday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain and Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at Wellspring Church in Kensington.
