Julian Cartie, 25, of New Britain died unexpectedly Sunday, February 22, 2009. Born and raised in New Britain, Julian attended local schools and played midget football with the New Britain Pal Raiders. Julian was an outstanding football player for the New Britain High School Hurricanes. He also attended Milford Academy Prep School and Hudson Valley Community College. Julian joined the Connecticut National Guard in 2008 and received numerous awards during training. Julian leaves to cherish his memory, his loving mother Mary Peaches Busque and stepfather Yves Busque; his loving father Selwyn Cartie, Sr. and stepmother Debbie Cartie; six brothers, older brother Michael J. Peterson of New Britain, Rayon Cartie of Trinidad, Nathan A. Cartie, of New Britain, Cory Cartie of Fla., Damon Sumter of New Britain, and Selwyn Cartie, Jr. of New Britain; and two sisters, Deidra Cartie of New Britain and Katlynn Cartie of New Britain. Also surviving are his maternal grandmother Mary Peterson; his paternal grandmother Emila Cartie; his godparents Rosenda and Howard Hull; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his special pit bull Zina. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Boston Peterson and Harold P. Cartie. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial, with full Military Honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
