Judith (Judi) Bartlewski, age 72 of 3114 S. Ocean Blvd, Highland Beach, FL passed away on January 17. She was born in Lowell, MA to the late Esther Pozniak Donnelly and Frederick Donnelly.
Judi was married to Paul A. Bartlewski for forty-three years and leaves behind one son, Paul F. Bartlewski and his fiancee, Amy Vernazza.
Judi graduated with Honors, from Elms College in Chicopee, MA with a BA in History. She earned her Master's Degree in Education from Riviera College in Riviera, New Hampshire.
Judi started her career as a counselor in J.E.P.A., a job training program for the state of CT and later worked at the CT Work Force Development Job Training.
Judi became the first Career Counselor at Bloomfield High School. Later she would become a Career Counselor in the New Britain HS World of Work Program, where she found a job for every student in the program. She became the first Counselor and Founder of the New Britain Diploma Program and personally recruited every student in the initial program. Judi started from an empty office and created every rule to make the Program successful, while remaining meaningful. Some of her rules still stand today. Judi was known for throwing elaborate Graduation celebrations for the adults. She went on to become the first Counselor of Project Achieve; a ninth grade program for at-risk students.
Judi retired in August 2009 and moved to Biddeford Pool, Maine and Highland Beach, FL; where she resided for the last six years.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Jan. 29 at Erickson Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St, New Britain, CT from 9 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 195 S. Main St, New Britain.
