Juana Bracero, 88, of New Britain, widow of Francisco Bracero, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of Jose Ortiz and Eusebia Amaro. She was a New Britain resident since 1963 and was formerly employed as a seamstress. Juana was a member of St. Mary Church. Surviving are nine children and their spouses, Andres Sanchez (Theresa), Isabel Rosa (Bienvenido), Angel Luis Sanchez, Jose Antonio Sanchez (Maria), Jenny Gaskewich (John), Roberto Sanchez (Iris), Maria Luisa Sanchez (Joe Muniz), Ceferino Sanchez (Brenda), and Juana Del Carmen Sanchez (Santiago Solis); her stepchildren and spouses, Andrea Ortiz (Luis), Angel Sanchez (Antia), Julia Maria Calderon, Crescencia Collet (Augustin); her brothers and sisters, Secundina Ortiz, Florencio Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz, Jose Luis Ortiz, Irma Ortiz, and Hilda Ortiz Moorhead; and many special grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Juana was predeceased by her husband, Francisco Bracero, a son, Florencio Sanchez; a stepson, Juan Antonio Sanchez; and by three brothers, Guadalupe Ortiz, Federico Ortiz, and Alejandro Ortiz. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 7-9 PM.
