It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan Francisco Acevedo, age 52, of New Britain, Connecticut, who entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2025. Born on August 10, 1972, in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Juan lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

Juan was known for his friendly spirit, caring nature, sense of humor, and deep devotion to his loved ones. A true family man, he took pride in every moment shared with his children, grandchildren, and extended family. His home was always open, his smile always warm, and his heart always ready to lend a helping hand.

Juan was a long-time and beloved employee of the Hospital for Special Care, where he worked for many years. He was cherished by both staff and patients for his unwavering compassion, work ethic, and willingness to go above and beyond for those in need.

He had a passion for collecting cars and vintage bicycles, especially the classic Pee-wee Herman bikes. He also loved fishing and spending time with his family—creating memories that will live on through the stories and hearts of those who loved him.

Juan is survived by his devoted long-time companion Gricel Davila, his beloved sons Alexander and Joshua Acevedo. His cherished step- children; Fernando and family, Cindy and family, Yesenya and family. He is also survived by his parents, Rosalia Rupiza and Juan Acevedo Sr. His sisters Heidi  Acevedo and family. Nathalie Muñiz and family. His Brothers Alexander Acevedo, Shabrielly Acevedo, and Clyde Acevedo.

He leaves behind his beloved  great grandchildren: Alexandra, Daira, Keanu and Raniel.

Memorial services to honor Juan's life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests charitable donations be made in Juan's memory to a cause close to your heart—continuing his legacy of kindness and giving.

Juan will be deeply missed, but the love he shared and the joy he brought will never be forgotten.

Es con el corazón apesadumbrado que anunciamos el fallecimiento de Juan Francisco Acevedo, de 52 años, de Nueva Bretaña, Connecticut, que entró en reposo eterno el 8 de junio de 2025. Nacido el 10 de agosto de 1972 en Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, Juan vivió una vida llena de amor, risas y dedicación a su familia y comunidad.

Juan era conocido por su espíritu amistoso, naturaleza cariñosa, sentido del humor y profunda devoción por sus seres queridos. Un verdadero hombre de familia, se enorgullecía de cada momento compartido con sus hijos, nietos y familia extendida. Su casa siempre estaba abierta, su sonrisa siempre cálida y su corazón siempre estaba listo para echar una mano.

Juan fue un empleado de larga duración y querido del Hospital de Atención Especial, donde trabajó durante muchos años. Fue apreciado tanto por el personal como por los pacientes por su inquebrantable compasión, ética de trabajo y voluntad de ir más allá por los necesitados.

Le apasiona coleccionar coches y bicicletas antiguas, especialmente las clásicas bicicletas Pee-wee Herman. También le encantaba pescar y pasar tiempo con su familia, creando recuerdos que vivirán a través de las historias y los corazones de aquellos que lo amaban.

A Juan le sobreviven su compañera de toda la vida Gricel Davila, sus queridos hijos Alexander y Joshua Acevedo. Sus queridos hijastros; Fernando y familia, Cindy y familia, Yesenya y familia. También le sobreviven sus padres, Rosalia Rupiza y Juan Acevedo Sr. Sus hermanas Heidi Acevedo y su familia. Nathalie Muñiz y su familia. Sus hermanos Alexander Acevedo, Shabrielly Acevedo y Clyde Acevedo.

Deja atrás a sus queridos bisnietos: Alexandra, Daira, Keanu y Raniel.

Los servicios conmemorativos para honrar la vida de Juan se llevarán a cabo el viernes 18 de julio de 2025, de 5:00 p. m. a 7:00 p. m. en Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain, CT.

En lugar de flores, la familia solicita amablemente que se hagan donaciones caritativas en memoria de Juan a una causa cercana a su corazón, continuando su legado de bondad y donación.

Echaremos mucho de menos a Juan, pero el amor que compartió y la alegría que trajo nunca serán olvidados.
