Josephine M. Bisaccia

Josephine M. Bisaccia, 98, of New Britain, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at Newington Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Camillo Bisaccia who died on Feb. 4, 1984. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Filomena Stella Lombardo. She arrived in the United States through Ellis Island from Cancattini Bagni, Sicily with her mother, sisters and brothers where they met her father and settled in New Britain. Her love and respect for her Italian ethnic culture and its warm and lively traditions of family and cooking, home and hearth, have always given her family so much happiness. Her cooking certainly had a way to always bring joy to all of those who were fortunate enough to eat at her table, nourishing both appetites and values she inherited from her parents. She was our family's Matriarch wife, mother, sister, grandma and great-grandma, and one of Gods great gifts to humanity. Josephine was a devoted member of St. Ann's Church. She was a member of Catholic Family Services and the New Britain Senior Center. Surviving are a son Leonard Bisaccia and his wife Paula of Kensington; a daughter, Filomina Tucciarone and her husband Patrick of Southington; a brother, Vincent Lombardo of Argentina; a sister, Mary Recchia of Argentina; six grandchildren, Matthew Tucciarone, Susan Bisaccia, Sally Scheyd, Paul Tucciarone, Anne Marie Russo and Leonard Bisaccia, two step-grandchildren, Shawnna Kelly and Ryan Kelly; five great-grandchildren, Emily Tucciarone, Kyle Scheyd, Chad Fredericks, Katelyn Bisaccia, and Charlotte Bisaccia; and four step great-grandchildren, Mackenzie O'Connor, Morgan O'Connor, Aidan O'Connor and Grace Kelly. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Vincent Bisaccia; two brothers, Salvatore Lombardo, and Sebastian Lombardo; two sisters, Lucy Cacciabue and Lita Roca; and by two grandchildren, Lisa Bisaccia and Janet Bisaccia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Ann's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CT Autism Spectrum Resource Center Inc., 101 No. Plains Industrial Rd., Harvest Park, Wallingford, CT 06492. The family would like to express their thanks to Josephine's special aid Gheri and her nurse Tina at Newington Healthcare Center for their loving care.
