Joseph P. Valenti Jr.

Joseph P. Valenti Jr., 87, beloved husband of Cheryl Wolf, passed away at home on Friday, May 1, 2026. He was born on February 9, 1939 in Waterbury, CT, one of two children born to the late Joseph P. and Rachel (Mazzei) Valenti.

Joseph earned his B.S. and a Master’s Degree from UCONN in Business Administration. Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served with the ROTC at UCONN and in the 1st Infantry at Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Benning, GA. He was formerly employed at Cigna for 27 years, and later at H&R Block as an Enrolled Agent for 25 years before retiring.

Joseph enjoyed gardening, watching UCONN Men’s and Women’s Basketball, spending time at Cape Cod and Bermuda in addition to traveling through Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family, fishing, swimming at the beach, snorkeling and having his daily afternoon coffee and dessert.

Surviving are his wife, Cheryl Wolf; two children, Steven Valenti and his wife Donna, and Susan Swift; his grandchildren, Jennifer Valenti (Paul Shupenis), Michael Valenti (Alexandria), Jacqueline Swift and Jessica Swift; his great grandchildren, Vincent Valenti, Gianna Valenti, Anthony Valenti, and Addison Valenti. He also leaves behind his sister, Phyllis Whyte (Liam) and a sister-in-law, Shelley Wolf. He was predeceased by his first spouse, Jacqueline (Donorfio) Valenti.

A special thank you to the staff at Hartford HealthCare Hospice at Home for the great care and support they provided Joseph in the final months of his life.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 4-6 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Entombment will be held privately at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
