Joseph Scerrato, 87, of Farmington, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 7, 2024. He was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria (Arduini) Scerrato. Joe was born in Frosinone, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1955.
In 1966, Joe co-founded A & J Caulking Company with his brother, Armando. Over the years, their business became a success and remains part of the family to this day, even after Joe's retirement in 2008. Joe was a proud and dedicated member of the charitable organization Unico, eventually serving as its president. He loved playing bocce and was passionate about soccer, particularly the Italian soccer team, Lazio, and the Italian National Soccer Team. He was also an avid fan of the New England sports teams and especially loved rooting for the UConn Huskies and Boston Red Sox.
Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, husband, and brother, as his entire life revolved around his family. Time spent with them is what he cherished the most, and he was happiest when everyone was together. He enjoyed playing family card games, watching his grandchildren at sporting events, taking family vacations in Aruba, and having a good Italian meal with a glass of red wine. Joe was special to his family—he brought love and joy to everyone’s lives. He will be dearly missed, especially by his grandchildren who adored their beloved “Poppi.”
Joe is survived by his son John Scerrato and daughter-in-law Marlene, daughter Marisa Korst and son-in-law Robert, daughter Alisa Scerrato and son-in-law Anthony Grassie, grandchildren Melissa and Ryan, Michael, Matthew, Jack, Mark, Scott, and Alex, beloved mother of his children Lucia Scerrato, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his siblings Armando Scerrato and sister-in-law Anna, Domenic Scerrato and sister-in-law Connie, and Ida Celani. He was predeceased by his sister Chiara Vincenzi and brothers Guerrino Scerrato and Benedetto Scerrato.
