A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Joseph L. Johnson passed away after a short illness on Monday 10/29/2018 surrounded by family. He was born 9/21/1935 in the District of Columbia (Washington D.C.) and raised in Newport News, and Richmond Va. He was predeceased by his parents Isaac Johnson and Margaret Holmes.
Joseph leaves behind his brothers and sisters, Carol, Lucille, Woody, and Malcolm Holmes of Richmond Va. He also leaves to his to cherish his memory his loving, devoted wife Julie Johnson, his six children Antoinette Johnson of Wethersfield Ct, Jonathan Johnson, Julie Johnson, Esther Johnson, Joseph Johnson Jr. all of New Britain, and Lucien Simard of Southington. He also leaves behind his eight grandchildren Dwayette Davis of Richmond, Va., Reginald Davis, Kyla Nixon-Anderson of New Britain, Anthony Davis of Manchester Ct., Janel Davis, Jayda Johnson, Devon Johnson, and Jayden Melendez of New Britain, and his predeceased granddaughter Stacey Nixon. He also leaves behind his fifteen great- grandchildren Cameron Davis, Damajah Davis, Jymique Davis, Jordan Simoneau, Treavor McCarthy, Ariah Smith, Ananyah Smith, Amir Brown of New Britain, Alex Moore, and Ava Davis of Manchester, Nevaeh Gales of Richmond Va., Callie Jones, Cassius Jones, and Cree Jones of New Britain and predeceased great-granddaughter Candice Pellegrini.
Joseph has worked for Fafnir Bearing for many years, then Emhart before retiring. He was a very religious man loving the Lord, studying his word and sharing his love and knowledge about the Lord with his family and friends.
As we lay to rest a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather a man that was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Joseph's memory will be with all who have loved him, so therefore don't cry just smile knowing his spirit is free of any suffering.
The family would like to thank Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home for all their support, and the palliative team at Hospital of Central Ct who cared for him.
