Josefina Cruz Pagan

On November 30, 1934, Josefina Cruz Pagan, our matriarch was born.   On January 3, 2019 she was called back home to our Lord.  She was a strong, caring woman who was loved by all who knew her.  She was a faithful Catholic, and member of St. Mary’s Church in New Britain.

Mami, grandma, grandma mai, mamuchca, vieja, fina, no matter what you called her she would always be there for you.   If you grew up on Beaver St., in the ‘80’s you probably bought a limber from her and she probably fed you at least once.  She was always surrounded by beautiful plants as she had an amazing green thumb.  Her discipline was legendary and we are all better for it.

She is survived by 10 of her 12 children, Rafael Tirado, Nora Tirado, Marina Torres, Vilma Quinones, Neida Biagioni, Wilfredo Quinones, Ana Elsie Quinones, Wanda Quinones, Ernesto Vargas, and Francisco Ramirez; 6 of her 8 siblings, Ramon Luis Cruz Pagan, Eusebia Cruz Pagan, Luz Maria Cruz Pagan, Miguel Cruz Pagan, Ismael Cruz Pagan, and Relli Cruz Pagan; 33 of her 34 grandchildren, Maribel, Rafael, Elizabeth, Rosemary, Maxine, Lillian, Guillermo, Miguel, Michael, Wilfredo, Sheila, Shayla, Shaylin, Simon Jr., Angel, Michael, Joshua, Xavier, Wilfredo, Jr., Raymon, Vanessa, Alejandro, Connie, Joseph, Darlene, Emily, Emilio, Lisa, Julio, Bianca, Tatiana, Ernesto Jr., and Jonathan; and more than 20 great-grandchildren. Josefina was predeceased by 2 children, Bernardo Tirado and Maria E. Tirado; 2 siblings, Luis Cruz Pagan and Lydia Cruz Pagan; and 1 grandson Jonathan. She was very loved and will be very missed.

Funeral services and calling hours will be on Monday from 12 PM to 2 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.  Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
