Josefa Garcia

Josefa “ Mami Fefa” Garcia, 88, of Bristol, widow of Salvador Garcia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Jose Hernandez and Angela Sanchez. Josefa was a resident of New Britain for over 40 years before moving to Bristol in 2007.  She was a member of St. Mary Church in New Britain.

In addition to her husband and parents, Josefa was predeceased by a daughter, Haydee Garcia; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Garcia, and a son-in-law, Efrain Saavedra.  She is survived by five children, Maria Davis, Ana Saavedra, Salvador Garcia Jr., Osvaldo Garcia, Cecilio Garcia and his wife Lorrie Wassil; her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Davis and his wife Zeneida, Maria Coyle, Haydee Saavedra, Angela Malenfant and her husband Doug, Fernando Garcia and his wife Ashley, Eduardo Garcia, Melissa Garcia, Latonia Wassil, Ashley Wassil, Charlie Saavedra, Danny Wassil, Jeffrey Davis, and Thalia Maldonado; many great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bristol Hospital ICU and F South nursing staff for the wonderful care provided.
