Jose Antonio Jusino

Jose Antonio Jusino, 65 was born in Brooklyn, New York but spent most of his childhood in San German, Puerto Rico. He resided in Jacksonville, Florida at the time of his death. Prior to his move to Jacksonville, he lived in New Britain for over two decades. He was predeceased by his wife Carmen Iris Velazquez-Jusino, mother Dominga Vega and father Concepcion Jusino.

Surviving is his daughter Nathalie Jusino, his sisters Rebeca, Jenny, Shirley, brothers Edgar, Concepcion Jr, and Andy. Several nieces and nephews, cousins, sisters-in-laws and brother in-laws.

He was a veteran of the United States Army who served in the PV1 junior ranks from November 1990 to May 2001 throughout Europe, Middle East, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Georgia, California and Louisiana where he achieved as an infantryman on the field. After military service he spend his time attending Tunxis Community College and remained a hard-working student eager to learn more about the world through classes he studied.

My father Jose was passionate about life, he expressed it in many ways through his love of reading, love of education, love of music by self-teaching himself to play the guitar, love of poetry by creating his own. In his later years, he attended Sunday Mass at St. Joseph. When attending St. Mary’s parish he serve as Eucharist Minister and was part of the Spanish Cursillo Movement.

The fondest memories of us bonding as father and daughter that I still keep close to my heart were our summer trips, moments like the ones we made during those times showed that he was truly a kid at heart under his tough exterior.

On January 15, 2022, our family will hold a Mass in his memory at Saint Joseph Church at 9:30 am, followed by his burial at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown at 11:00 am. Funeral arrangements are made by Erickson-Hansen.
