José Zúñiga de Dios peacefully entered into eternal life on Wednesday June 23, 2021, surrounded by his devoted wife, Adelina, his children, grandchildren and family friends at home. José was born on March 15,1936 to Francisco Zúñiga Perez and Guadalupe De Dios Martinéz in Axutla, Puebla, Mexico. José met the love of his life Adelina Delgado Gutiérrez and shared 58 blessed years together. José had very strong family and work values.
He worked for many years at Fafnir Bearing Company. He then went on to achieve one of his greatest accomplishments by becoming the mayor of his home town Axutla. This town was founded by his paternal grandfather Colonel Jesús Zúñiga Gutiérrez. He made it his priority to ensure Axutla had portable drinking water, electrical power for light and utilities and a roadway that would not be washed away every time the river rose during the rainy season but his biggest accomplishment was the construction of the brigde of El Puente Sobre El Rio Mixteco that connects Axutla to Central America inaugurated on January 8th, 2002.
He is predeceased by his daughter Guadalupe Zúñiga Delgado and two grandchildren Emmanuel Delgado and Fidelis Delgado. He is survived by his children Maria Correa, Francisco, Visente, Guadalupe, Aurora and Jose Zúñiga and grandchildren Fermin J Correa,Vincent A Correa, Xiara Stringer, Alex Correa and Christopher Delgado.
The visiting hours will be Wednesday June 30, 2021 from 9:00 a.m to 10:30 a.m at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St, New Britain, CT 06051. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m at St. Mary’s Church, 544 Main St, New Britain, CT 06051. Interment service to immediately follow in St. Mary's Cemetery at 1141 Stanley St, New Britain, CT 06051.
