John E. Zarrella, 71, of New Britain, beloved husband of Linda Zarrella, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 1, 2015. Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Anthony and Ruth (Jacobs) Zarrella. John was a New Britain resident most of his life and was formerly employed as a truck driver. John loved animals and wild life. He enjoyed feeding the birds and nature. He especially loved his little kitty, "Pinky". He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Zarrella; his son whom he loved very much, John W. Zarrella of Southington; a brother, James Zarrella of Westbrook, two sisters, Leona Zarrella of Corpus Christi, TX, and Joan Zarrella Callahan and her companion Steve Harris of Plainville; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Barbara Trajanowski of Southington; a brother-in-law, Norman Turgeon of New Britain; several nephews and nieces including Joshua Callahan, his wife Amanda, and their children Colt and Quinn; Timothy Zarrella, Grace Zarrella of New Britain, and Valerie Moore of Plainville. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Moore and Robert Moore. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There are no calling hours.
