John Wesley Watkins

John Wesley Watkins “Johnny”, 62, of Newington, CT passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven.  Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Robert and Jean Watkins.

He is survived by his loving companion, Dina Edwards; a son, Malik Watkins of Newington; a daughter, Tawana Edwards; three granddaughters, Kassidy, Kaliyah, and Taniyza of Hartford; three brothers, Ralph William and Lynette of Burlington, NJ, James and Paula Watkins of Sicklerville, NJ, Brian and Grace Watkins of Lake Worth, FL; four sisters, Cynthia and Arthur Willingboro of NJ, Dorothy and George Meadows of Trenton, NJ, Cheryl and Tracy Watkins of Pennington, NJ; two aunts, Elaine Anderson of Neptune, Dora Polk of Salem, NJ; and a host of nieces and nephews.  John was predeceased by three brothers, Roland, Robert, and Glenwood Anderson.

A Home Going Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home in New Britain, with calling hours from 9 AM to 11 AM followed by a service from 11 AM to 12 PM.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
