John Joseph Russo

John Joseph Russo, 78, of Kensington, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002 at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Phyllis Stella Russo. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Vinzenzo and Angelina Zimmitti Russo. John was a long time New Britain resident, moving to Kensington ten years ago. He was formerly employed at Okay Industries and was a World War II Marine Corps Veteran. He was a member of St. Ann's Church and the Berlin Italian Independant Political Club. Surviving are a brother, Orlando Russo and his wife Angeline of New Britain; a sister-in- law Marion Russo, also of New Britain; many nephews; two grandnieces and six grandnephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Sebastian Russo and Rosario Russo. Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Ann's Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 PM at the funeral home.
