John Rubino

John Rubino, 93, of New Britain, loving husband of the late Isabella (Loschiavo) Rubino, passed away at home on February 24, 2021.

Born on June 5, 1927 in Sant’Onofrio, Province of Vibo Valentia, Italy, he was the son of the late Giovanni and Maria Domenica (Defina) Rubino.  John was a New Britain resident for over 60 years and was employed at Stanley Works for 34 years, before retiring.  John was a member of St. Joachim Parish, St. Ann Church in New Britain.  John loved gardening and was a true conversationalist.  He enjoyed talking to everyone.

Surviving are his children, Anna Rubino, Maria Keyes and her husband Paul, Vito Rubino and his companion Mary Brennan; three brothers, Michele Rubino and his wife Palma, Giusieppe Rubino and his wife Franca, and Gaetano Rubino and his wife Christina; three sisters-in-law, Anna Lococo and her husband Vincenzo, Anna Loschiavo, and Adelia Loschiavo;  and several nieces and nephews in the U.S., Italy and Australia.  In addition to his wife and parents, John was predeceased by four brothers, Domenico Rubino, Nicola Rubino, Vito Rubino and Paulo Rubino, and by two brothers-in-law, Antonino Loschiavo and Ralph Loschiavo.

The family would like to extend its sincerest gratitude to John’s long term caregiver, Kazimiera Kosiba as well as to all the nurses and practitioners at Hospice of Hartford Health Care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Ann Church, 101 North St., New Britain.  Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.  Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Hartford Healthcare at Home, 1296 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield, CT  06109.
