John H. Porch, 69, of Bristol, died peacefully Thursday, August 18, 2011 at home. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Henry and Rose Porch. He was a life-long Bristol resident. John was formerly employed as a Design Engineer at New Britain Machine Co. After retirement, he worked at the Information Center at Bradley Airport and served as a Volunteer Tour Director at Bradley Air Museum. He was a member of St. Matthew Church, the Connecticut Historical Society, the Elks Lodge, and the Moose Lodge. As a young man, John played the drums with the Plainville Fife and Drum Corps. John enjoyed traveling and working in his garden. Surviving are three cousins, Linda Berberian of Bristol, Joan Greisner and her husband William of Bristol, and Martha Cabral and her husband Frank of Stuart, FL; and many second cousins. He was predeceased by a cousin, David Jackman. The family would like to thank the women from Polish Helping Hands for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Church, Bristol. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Calling hours are Friday, August 26, from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
