John David Mcbean Jr.

In loving memory of my son, John David McBean Jr., affectionately known as “Buggie” to close friends and family.    John was born on August 18, 1986 in Hartford CT, he passed away on Wednesday May 26, 2021 in the state of Maine in a car accident.

Son of John David McBean Sr. and Geraldine James-Myles, and step-son of Linton Myles.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, David Samuel McBean and Albertha McBean of Hartford CT and his god-mother Lois Hillman of Jessup, Georgia.  He attended Lincoln Tech with a concentration in electrician. Graduate of East Hartford High School, Buggie had perceptive skills in home improvement, welding and auto mechanics.

He was a devoted loving son who gave all his heart and soul to his family and friends right up until the day he departed from me.  You only had to really call him once in need and he was on his way. He enjoyed social gatherings with friends and family. Those that knew him would clearly say he was the life of the party and left no one out of invitation. His soul from a teenager was into his car club (Acura), He traveled statewide collecting cars, viewing and admiring these cars with his childhood best friend Alton Shaw. He enjoyed traveling and music. If he was in your area, he made a call to you or he stopped by in his passing. He loved good food and the holidays. Pecan pie was his favorite. Those that knew him well, knew to set his plate aside he was coming by. He was amazing working with his hands creating and building the unthinkable. His school projects became more and more interesting each year as a child. Buggie loved the New England Patriots and the New York Yankees. His collection of signature hats spoke volumes when it came down to these two teams, win or lose. He was my jack-of-all-trades and a sponge for knowledge. Most importantly he enjoyed life even through the good and the bad. His affectionate laughter and smile would light up a room instantly. He had a great passion and empathy for people with disabilities and single mothers through his life of travels.

Even though Buggie was my only son, he never felt brother-less.  His warm loving spirit allowed him to be a part of Amon and Sarah Shaw's family from the age of 9 years old.  Mom and Pop Shaw were the best extended parents my son could have asked for. "Big John" is what they called my young giant. He learned a great deal from his extended family and they loved him dearly. Otis. Mark, Kenroy, Carline, Harvel Andrea, Rogdray and Alton Shaw traveled many paths with Buggie. From Sunday dinners, teenage dating, the birth of their children and weddings. They stayed with him right down to the day we had to give him back to God on June 9th 2021.

As I remember him today and all the relationships he had formed all around this world in his 34 years with us, I think we all can agree he was a "Legend" that we miss very dearly everyday.  I am a very blessed and proud mother to have had the time that God allow me with him as my son and to be able to share him with the world.

Buggie leaves behind his beloved and devoted parents and sisters and their families, Yalonda James-Yearwood, Terrence Johnson and their two children, Alexzandra McBean, Juan Vazquez and their four children, Step-sister Venisa Myles and her son; his grandmother Geneva Moore James; Aunts: Samantha James, Janetta Waden, Stephanie James, Edna McBean, Dorothy Ellis and his uncle George James Sr.; three god-daughters: Sarah and Naomi Shaw, Aubree Michaud. God-Sisters Gwen Upshaw, LaShawn Hillman, Valarie Simpson, Quanesha White-Jones, Kanecia Williams, Shatasia Hillman, Shaffon Stokes, Laneja Hillman and his god-brother Curtis Pertillar.  The treasures of his heart Elias John McBean and his mother Amanda Lynn Gualazzi.   His best friends were Nicholas J. Roy and family from New Hampshire, and Alton Shaw from Hartford.

Also surviving are a host of great aunts and uncles, cousins, other extended relatives, and life-long friends stretching across Connecticut, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

My family would like to express deep thanks and appreciation to Dr. Rosa Tutson, the Shaw family, Teresa Owen, and Norma Rosado for the wonderful going home preparations, as well as everyone that traveled in and out of state, sent cards, flowers, prayer and phone calls in support of my son John McBean Jr.

His final resting place is at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT.
