John D. Masserio Jr., 57, of Unionville, Connecticut passed away on January 21, 2025 at UCONN Hospital after a brief illness with family by his side. He was born October 28, 1967 in New Britain, Connecticut to the late John D. Masserio Sr. previously residing in Weeki Wachee, Florida.
John graduated from Berlin High School, attended CCSU, and was self-employed and the owner of JDM Masonry LLC. He enjoyed being a father and spent most of his time with his daughter, Jewelyette.
John will most be remembered for his devotion to his daughter. He was a father whose love for his daughter was boundless, a quiet strength in every experience they shared, a hidden knight as he pushed against the tides, always fighting for his little girl. His heart was a sanctuary for her, always protecting, always guiding and in his care, she knew the truest form of love. Though he may no longer be here, his love will remain a guiding light in her life forever shaping the person she becomes just as profoundly as he shaped the world with his dedication. May he find his final resting place beneath the grass of her outstretched, arms, and within her heart forever.
John is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sisters; Karleen Giarratana and her husband Salvatore of Farmington CT, Dorene Masserio Beach and her husband John Beach of Berlin, CT, Lisa Masserio of Spring Hill, FL, and Drita Bulica of New Britain, CT; and his paternal aunts, Carol Sarnowski and her husband Richard of Boca Raton, FL, and June Hartunian and her husband Ronald of Port St. Lucie, FL. John also leaves behind his cherished nieces, nephews and cousins and Michael Zappulla and his family who had been there also to support John in many of his endeavors. John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, John C. Masserio and Dorothy R. (Zavarella) Masserio.
John's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the UCONN ICU White Team for their wonderful care and to nurse Taylor for the many acts of kindness and support during his illness.
