John Martinez

John Martinez, 81, of New Britain, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at home. He was the husband of Maria (Santana) Martinez. Born in Puerto Rico, he was a New Britain resident since 1997. John was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was formerly employed as a pharmacy assistant in New York City and was later employed as an operating engineer and at the Police Department in New York as well. After moving to New Britain, he was employed at The Stanley Works before retiring. Surviving are his wife, Maria Martinez; a son, John Martinez Jr. of New York, NY; and a daughter, Angela Christina Martinez of Torrington. Funeral services, with military honors, will be held Friday at 11 AM at the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. There are no calling hours.
