John C. Lentini

John C. Lentini, 71, of New Britain, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 8, 2004 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was the beloved husband of 50 years of Elaine Borde Lentini. Born in New Britain, John was the son of the late Professor Concetto "Jack" and Anna Casella Lentini. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Corporal in the 9th Infantry Regiment until his honorable discharge in 1953. John was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the VFW Post 511, AmVets, Italian War Veterans, and American Legion Post #6. Before retiring in 1991, John was a Service Technician at Sears Roebuck & Co. for 29 years. John enthusiastically lived life pursuing music, bowling, UConn Women's Basketball and collecting eagle memorabilia. John was a vibrant, loving and caring man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife Elaine, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in law, Donna and James Murphy of Coventry, Christine and James Wrobel of Kensington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, John C. Lentini II and wife Marian of Atlanta, GA and Mark A. Lentini of Enola, PA; five brothers and their wives, Henry and Julia Lentini of California, Michael and Camilla Lentini of Newington, Frank Lentini of New Britain, Anthony and Edna Lentini of Kensington and Robert and Judy Lentini, of Newington; sister-in law Francesca Lentini; five grandchildren, Michelle and her husband Dave Morneault, Holli Metcalf, Sarah and Christopher Murphy, Arielle Lentini and Hailey Tharp; several nieces and nephews and his best four-legged friend, Vegas. He was predeceased by two sisters, Louise Dawidowicz and Annette Spano, and by three brothers, James, Peter, and Angelo Lentini. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at St. Joseph's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of John may be made to NBGH Radiation Oncology Center or the NBGH George Bray Cancer Center, Development Office, New Britain General Hospital, PO Box 100, New Britain, CT 06050-9923.
