John G. Errico, aged 85 years, of New Britain passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 30th, 2017 in Hartford Hospital.
  
  
  John was born in Hartford on August 25, 1932. He was the son of the late John J. Errico and the late Sophie Kyc Errico Dinunzio. He graduated from the St. Augustine School and from Buckley High School. He served in the Army stateside during the Korean conflict. He worked at the Hartford Insurance Company until his retirement in 1994. He was a current member of St. Paul Church in Kensington. John was a former member of St. Maurice Church, New Britain where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years, as well as helping to decorate the church on special occasions. In retirement, he volunteered at New Britain General Hospital in various roles. His favorite retirement role, however, was playing Santa Claus in many functions, given his prodigious white beard. He visited the Hospital’s nursery and the employees’ holiday parties as Santa, bringing joy to many people by sharing his love of the Christmas spirit.
  
  
  He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Theresa Roy Errico. He was predeceased by a son, Mark J. Errico (wife Cynthia Lauria Errico). He has two surviving daughters - Denise Errico Meyer (husband Robert J. Meyer, MD) of Earlysville, VA and Annmarie Errico Marolda (husband L. Chris Marolda) of Berlin, CT. He has 7 Grandchildren – Joshua and Ethan Meyer, Abigail Meyer Neuroh; Michael and Jennifer Errico; Madison and Olivia Marolda.
  
  
  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Church, Kensington,at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union Street, #301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
