John I. Edmiston

John I. Edmiston, 87, of New Britain, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Peter and Julia O'Neil Edmiston. He was a New Britain resident most of his life and was a U.S. Army Veteran. John was self employed, operating several Mr. Softee trucks before retiring. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, VFW Post 511, and American Legion Post 68. Surviving are two daughters, Janet Manthey of Berlin, and Jacqueline "Jackie" Sahadi and her husband Phil of Newington; a son, John Edmiston and his wife Laine of New Britain; and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held privately. Burial, with military honors, will be in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
