Jeronimo "Alfredo" Saavedra

Jeronimo "Alfredo" Saavedra, 77, of New Britain, beloved husband of Rosa Saavedra, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at the Hospital of Central CT. Born in San German, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Joaquin Saavedra and Antonia Arroyo. He was a New Britain resident for over 50 years and was formerly employed at Integra Cast. Jeronimo was a member of St. Mary Church. He loved baseball and was an avid New York Yankees baseball fan. Surviving are his wife, Rosa (Rossy) Saavedra; four children, Alberto Saavedra and his wife Rita, Milton Saavedra and his wife Wilma, Olga Vega and her husband Orlando, Rosa Rosado and her husband Jose; a brother, Luis A. Saavedra of Puerto Rico; six sisters, Matea Santiago, Ramona Cruz, Carmen Arroyo, Maria S. Santos, Ada I. Rivera, and Maria D. Ayala, all of New Britain; eight grandchildren, Alberto Jr., Carlos, Jessica, Tina, Amber, Melanie, Jheremi, and Veronica; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alejandro Saavedra, Efrain Saavedra, and Joaquin Saavedra. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 6-9 PM at the funeral home.
