Jeanette Thomas

Jeanette (Owens) Thomas, 75, was called home peacefully Friday, July 9th, 2021, in her home, among her family. Jeanette was born on August 6, 1945 in Troy, Alabama.  She was the daughter of Robert Lee and Alline (Brocton) Owens.  She was a dedicated home childcare provider for over twenty years. She was also an active church member in the missionary, usher board, and choir.

Jeanette leaves behind her daughters, Sharon L. Thomas of Middletown, Michelle R. (Thomas) Phillip, Jennifer A. Thomas of New Britain and honorary daughter Jennifer Leonard of LaGrange, Georgia.  She leaves behind her son-in-law, Vernelle Phillip of New Britain, whom she loved like a son. Grandchildren Jakarie Thomas, Malik Evans, Nyasia Dailey, Ayanna Dailey, Harmony Stephens, Samiyah Thomas, Olivia Phillip, Malia Phillip, Shernelle Phillip, and Trischelle Phillip.

Jeanette also leaves behind siblings Jesse Owens of Waterbury, Delores Arden Coggins of Middletown, Tyrone (Linda) Owens of Waterbury, and Ronald (Annie) Owens of Sherman, Texas. She also leaves behind her last living aunt on her mother's side, Oline Owens, Ohio. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Janice Johnson, New Britain, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was predeceased by her late husband James A. Thomas. Her sister, Leiola Brathwaite Owens, her brother, James Robert Owens, and her brother-in-law, Theodore (Teddy) Johnson of New Britain.

Homegoing Service will be at Bethesda Apostolic Church, 249 Stanley Street, New Britain, Connecticut 06051 on July 17 th at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. Services of comfort and compassion provided by Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of New Britain, CT.  Please share a memory of Jeanette with the family in the online guest book @ www.ericksonhansen.com
